Cost Accounting Manager
North of Philadelphia area
Job Description:
We have an immediate need for a Cost Accounting Manager. In this key management position you will be responsible for all day-to-day activities of the cost accounting function for the entire global organization. You will act as the liaison between the Plant Accountants and Corporate Accounting. In this highly visible position your expertise will be challenged as you interface regularly with senior management as well as a wide range of business unit leaders domestically and around the world.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize and direct all the activities of the cost accounting function
- Manage day to day operations of the existing cost accounting function from management of current rates to monthly close and analysis
- Support the Project Cost Team in the development of a standard costing system
- Manage the transition from the existing cost environment to a new standard cost system
- Identify, hire and develop in-plant cost accountants
- Development and maintenance of standard costs
- Perform the monthly closing activities including preparation of the cost to operate statement along with supporting analysis
- Proactive analysis of variances and communication of issues and opportunities to operations management
- Develop metrics and tracking system for major cost drivers
- Define policies and procedures for all cost accounting activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with an excellent academic record
- 5+ years progressive experience in accounting management, preferably as a cost accountant in an international manufacturing/distribution organization
- Strong analytical skills
- Proven experience in driving process improvement
- Demonstrated leadership and history of driving change and making a difference
- Ability to lead, motivate and support accounting team
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- CPA is a plus
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate with non-accounting professionals
