Job Overview:
Our client has an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Commodity Engineer who will focus on the design and development of new and existing products including value analysis opportunities. You will work with suppliers and the engineering department on component design (plastic parts, sheet metal, etc.), tooling design (both component tooling and manufacturing) and manufacturing process development and improvement. You must have an in-depth knowledge of Sheet Metal, Stampings, Plastic Injection Molding and Electro-Mechanical assemblies.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Strategic Business Units to free up engineering resources by designing, qualifying, testing and approving new components.
- Execute on Value Analysis opportunities without the help of the SBU engineers.
- Support both engineering and procurement of new product launches, sourcing new components and new technology.
- Work with the product teams on developing proper aesthetics.
Qualifications:
- BS Mechanical Engineering is required.
- 5 to 15 years experience working with sheet metal, stampings, plastic injection molding and electrical mechanical assemblies.
- 3 to 5 years Pro E and AutoCAD skills.
- Component design and experience with tool design.
- Commodity expertise (engineering grade plastics, metal components.)
- Understand the quality process control and be able to manage multiple priorities.
