Sales Engineer

Job Description:
Our client, a leader in today’s alarm industry and home entertainment fields, has an immediate need for a Sales Engineer due to continued growth. Serving the institutional, industrial, commercial and high-end residential markets, our client has been designing, installing, maintaining and monitoring top quality, integrated fire alarms, voice evacuation systems, intrusion alarms, access control, telephone, intercom, closed circuit television and related low-voltage systems since 1974. The sales engineers are responsible for the total life cycle of the sales process from design, proposal to the final close of the sale.
Responsibilities
- Initial contact with customers and making a good impression both on the phone and in person.
- Learn the company’s way of designing and engineering systems that meet the company’s standards.
- Surveying customer site and determining quantity and location of equipment needed.
- Determining requirements according to NFPA72, IBC, and local ordinances.
- Designing and drawing of systems using blueprints floor plans or drawings.
- Analyzing cost to determine price to make job profitable.
- Drafting proposal letters specifically designed for each customer’s individual needs.
- Delivery of proposal in person and review in detail with customer.
- Follow-up of proposal and making final sale.
- Reviewing of job with installation crew.
- Demo of system with customer.
- Developing new leads through personal contacts and through existing customer base to sell systems.
- Document sales procedures and policies to help the company have a more repeatable process.
- Become extremely proficient and knowledgeable about all company products, related codes and minimum standards.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years technical sales experience.
- Experience reading blue prints a plus.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Bachelor’s degree highly preferred.
While experience in our industry is always a plus, this business is very specialized and training will be provided.
